THE CENTRAL HOTEL's Gold Rush Lounge on King street west, will bring back the Phillips Brothers for an addi- tional week, starting on Mon- day. The brothers have a reper- toire of more than 300 songs in two-part harmony. They sing in five languages: Italian, Yid- dish, Spanish, Greek and Ger- man. They are returning by popular demand. THE WHITBY HOTEL'S Stage Door Lounge will bring back this week's act for another six days, starting Monday -- it is 'The Galaxies,' the tiniest big band in the world with an exciting variety of comedy and music. Manager James Maher says this is one of the finest attractions to perform in the vnew lounge. THE CADILEAC HOTEL, Simcoe st. s., will feature the comedy team of Earl Van and Vicki George starting on Mon- day. This hilarious comedy team has played all over the North American continent with RAY LONGDRIDG lengthy stays at the Americana Hotel in Miami Beech, the Champagne Room, Miami, Las Vegas, Tampa and many other leading entertainment cities. First show starts at 9 p.m. THE NATIONAL BALLET Company of Canada will pre- sent four ballets -- inclwding Act If of 'The Nutcracker' when they perform at the Regent Theatre next Thursday. The program will last for 90 minutes and "The Nutcracker" will take up the last half. The audience will also have an op- portunity to see "Solitaire," a new addition to the company's repertoire; the short "Clair de Lune'"' and "'Oine in Five," de- scribed as "a .pilotless ballet ; with a surprise -ending."' The entire production is under the artistic direction of Celia Franca. The company recently opened its six-month tour in Montreal. The bulk of the itinerary will be in Ontario and Quebec centres; but visits will be made to some U.S. and Mexican centres. The company has 60 dancers and ifs own 25- piece orchestra. OSHAWA BALLET lovers will have an opportunity to see Lois Smith, prima ballerina, and premier danseur Erarl Kraul. The National Ballet is one of the few companies to use the full score of '"The Nutcracker." The ballet has been reworked -- restaged with new choreo- graphy added for this tour by Celia Franka. The production to be seen here made its debut at O'Keefe Centre in Toronto last Christ- mas. The dancers' costumes are complemented by specially commissioned sets designed by Jurgen Rose. One of the high- lights of "The Nutcracker' is Act II wherein the ballet's child heroine Clara enters the magi- cal kirgdom of Sweets where she is entertained by a series of lively character dances and is greeted by the beautiful Sugar Plum fairy. THE WHITBY HOTEL'S Stage Door Lounge (in Whitby) has a big-name act booked for next week starting Monday. It's Mildred Kohler and The Galaxies (known as "The Tini- est Big Band in the World"). Mildred Kohler performs on the electric organ. She has a pleasant Irish personality that pleases night club audiences and really knows how to. belt out a song. She does comedy, ballads and can tell a joke as well as any '"'pre" in the busi- ness. Harry Haggerman plays tenor sax doubling on alto sax and clarinet. Joe Nevolo is on the drums and he also is a show-stopper. There are two solo voices -- those of Mildred and Harry. They do_ outstanding duets. There is also some three-part harmony singing. They play good music for dancing, as well as entertainment. They can en- tertain for the, evening without repeating themselves. Mildred Kohler has an infectious per- sonality. The Galaxies are a clean-cut, handsome act with plenty of professional talent. They have recently appeared in such places. at Pittsburgh, Pa.
