The principal, L. Lucas, BA, presided. C. Allin, chairman of the Durham County District High School Board, spoke brief- ly. One of the highlights was the valedictory address delivered by William Depew, who was the winner of an Ontario schol- arship. Gary Crombie was the winner of the Bank of Montreal Cup for speed and accuracy in type- writing. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce award for the highest standing in book- keeping was won by Gloria Flintoff, the Toronto - Dominion Bank'Cup, for speed and accur- acy in shorthand by Dianne Ormiston and the Commercial Law Prize for the senior com- mercial student who obtained the highest marks in commer- cial law was won_by Marion Johnson. ' Underwood Pins for obtaining a speed of 60 words per minute in typewriting were presented to Susan Luxton, Karen Oke, Dianne Ormiston and Olga Werezczynski. The Underwood Business Education award for the highest standard in business education went to Olga Bezu- biak. The United Counties Scholarship for excellence in the work of Grade 13 examinations was won by William Depew. Home Economics awards for highest standing in their grade were won by: Grade 12, Sally Witherley; Grade 11, Carol Mc- Donald; Grade 10, Bonnie Beech and Grade 9, Joanne Collacutt. INDUSTRIAL ARTS : The winners of Industrial Arts Prizes were: Grade 12, David Bridges; Grade 11, Daniel Grade 10, Charles Friedrich; Grade 9, Rodney Syer. The Lions Club Prize for high- est standing Grade 13 mathe- matics was won by William De- pew; Walter Rickard and Doug- las Nichols were the winners of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. scholarships for general pro- ficiency in Grade 13. Track and Field winners were: boys' senior champion- ship, Lloyd Clifton; boys' inter- mediate championship, Ian Mc- Quarrie and Paul Kelly; boys' junior championship, Gerry Barker; girls' senior champion- ship, Laura Talsma; girls' inter- mediate championship, Virginia Slemon; girls' junior champion- ship, Nesta Honeyman.
