By GORDON MITCHELL Of Oshawa Times Staff One place in town where 'youngsters can have fun by the barrel-load is the Simcoe Hall Boys' Club down on Eulalie. But don't let the 'Boys' in the title fool you -- the club is one of the finest places in Oshawa for recreation for the lassies too. More than 2,000 youngsters crowd into the two-year-old building every week to jump, swim, play table-tennis, play chess, a host of other games-- and generally learn how to get on well with the world. *QUIET NIGHT' On an average night this week George Mudd, assistant direc- tor, said that the Boys' Club is one of the finest things ever to happen to Oshawa. "Look at this," he said, walking around the building, 'there are more than 150 youngsters here to- night, all having fun, and this is one of our quiet nights." Part of the fun that. evening was the final pre-testing for the Red Cross Water Safety Pro- gram examinations. Between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. more than 90 boys and girls underwent water safety program' exercises watched by pool manager Rudi Roth, his assistant Merv Stouf- fer and Mr. Mudd. The boys and girls swam, tried their life-saving skills and both methods of artificial res- piration taught at the club, the arm-lift and the 'kiss of life.' Most of the children were be- tween eight and 18-years-old. "The classes also have pupils from five-years-old up, but we GO, TEAM, GO, IS the ery when David Smith and Roddy Whiteman take to the floor as partners in the bad- minton doubles team at the Simcoe Hall Boys' Club.
