One necessary observation is the very excellent job "Bep" Guidolin is doing here in his first season as coach of the Generals. Each year we travel thousands of miles scouting future talent for the Generals. In many cases, we re-travel this route to sign boys we have liked, during the games we have scouted them in. Once they arrive in our city, it becomes a big part of the coach's responsi- bility, to further develop the talent these players obviously had to start with, and to mould them into a club. Last Saturday night here, these two clubs battled through a tense game that ended in a 4-4 tie before over 4,000 fans. Therefore the three-way battle for top spot between Oshawa, Peter- borough and Niagara Falls continues. Here at home, we now take a few days off to enjoy the annual yuletide celebrations with our families and close friends. However it also gives us @ mid-season chance to re- Coach Guidolin Tries Them... "Bep" has done a fine job in this department. If a number of play- ers are played during the year (and you are prepared to suf- fer with their mistakes) you find that as these boys get more experience, you haye a much deeper amount of tal- ent to call on, late in the sea- son. He has con- tinually expounded this theory to the present club and it has been effective. The players also show a great willingness to give him everything they've got while out on the ice. Therefore, in short, the "guy' is doing a great job! Many coaches in Junior "A" are reluctant to play untried talent and concentrate too much on their experienced talent merely to' win games only, when much of their re- sponsibility is to also develop players. This cannot be done of course unless they are CHRISTMAS GREETINGS. May you bad good cheer, penes end happiness at Christmas time. ROY L. WHITTINGTON RADIO AND TELEVISION 5 BOND W.
