TEEN SCENE CENTRAL NEWS On Tuesday, March 29, sev- eral members of the Drama Club along with Miss Sissons and Mr. Halliday travelled to O'Keefe Centre in Toronto to see the play '"'Ivanov" by Chek- kov. Everyone agreed the play was well-acted and the scenery was realistic.' Only one occur- rence dampened the' evening (besides the sleet and rain) -- the loud barker-like sound of a man selling programs in the lobby. Career Day on March 30 was | a great successful day. Many students visited universities in Toronto and Hamilton, tech- nology schools, and_ colleges, while other students listened to} lectures based on various | occupations. A mania -- "Caesarmania'"' -- | hit the school on April 1st. The | dance that evening was one of | the most enjoyable held at Cen- | tral in some time. A new Ssys- tem of invitations was tried out, and as yet, decisions concern- | ing its success have not been | reached. April 2nd, Central's first entry ever into the All Ontario High School Drama Festival at Port Hope is being judged. The play, called "The Bear,' by Chekkov has been rehearsed thoroughly; and with the help of Miss Sissons and Mr. Halli- day directing, the cast has been working hard to produce a first-class performance. : The main characters are: Martin Leger as Luka, Doris Chromej as Popov, and George Bolotenko as Smirnov. The per- formance starts at 8.00 p.m. to- night at Port Hope. Spectators are surely welcome. --DORIS CHROMEJ OSHAWA CATHOLIC HIGH Now that exams are finally over a great deal of the tension has decreased.
