The elegantly-furnished dining lounge with its sumptuous Vic- torian decor boasts a menu which attracts lovers of good food from all over. The new look, and a world of eating experiences, can be at- tributed to the work of one man -- Kalman Weider -- the maitre d'hotel. He is a man with wide experi- ence in the catering and dining business in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. While serv- ing as a waiter at the exclu- sive St. George Hotel in Paris he first learned how to cater to the'tastes of the epicure. Later he got to know all the ins and outs of the hotel busic fiess when assistant manager and maitre d'hotel at hotels in Israel, and at Durban and Johannesburg, South Africa. The dining hit at the Rib Room is roast beef --not just ordinary, everyday roast beef-- but meat which is marinated in a secret process, says Mr. Weider. Other specialties include beef stroganoff, oysters and other sea foods and salads. Salads are the specialty of Norwegian-born Michael Kikals, Rib Room chef, who learned all the cooking arts at the famous Carleton Hotel in London, Eng- land.
