A ministry of external affairs spokesman said this move was decided upon because of the in- formal talks soon to take place at the official level. The talks, announced Wednes- day in London, are aimed at trying to find a basis for nego- tiation of the crisis caused by the action of the white-minority government of Ian Smith, which broke Rhodesia's links with Brit- ain last Nov. 11. Smith announced April 16 a decision to sever Rhodesia's re- maining contacts with Britain. He said the staff of the residual British mission in Salisbury must leave and Rhodesia House in London would be closed. This decision now is being jheld in abeyance pending the 'outcome of the informal talks.
