Wonderful Surgery Saves Infant Girl MONTREAL (CP)--The turn- ing point in a tiny premature baby girl's struggle for life came with a delicate heart op- eration at the Montreal Chil- dren's Hospital this year. Baby Messervy weighed only 2% pounds when she was born at the hospital Jan, 4, She was 2% months premature. She was breathing with diffi- culty because her lungs were not yet ready to function. Her chances of survival, even if she had no physical defects, were four in 100. The day she was born the hos- pital arranged to have her transferred to its newborn nur- sery directed by Dr. Leo Stern.
