The danger is that you might lose the trick to the king and be faced with a heart return, in which case you would eventu- ally go down one if and when you attempted the spade fin- esse. Instead, you should take the ace of diamonds at trick two and lead the jack of spades from dummy. You are not greatly concerned if you lose the finesse to West, because he can do you no injury with any return. Thus, if he takes the king of spades and plays a diamond, your worries are over because you now have nine ice-cold tricks. The same result accrues if he makes any other return.
