Mr. Haskett told the legislat- ure that further studies will be made on the effect of the studs on highway surfaces but it ap- peared they had some value as @ safety measure. He said legislation soon to be introduced will permit use of the studs, but limit it to the winter months. Seek Increases 000-member Seafarers' Interna- tional Union of Canada has an- nounced it will seek wage in- creases of more than 17 per) cent plus a reduction of the) work week to 40 hours when it serves new contract demands to the inland shipping companies next month.
