HN mer Om, Open, ee ee Ce @ THE OSHAWA TIMES, Fridey, November 24, 1967 WEEKEND ACTION for the hockey fans is especially at- tractive with old rivals of the special opposition category visiting both our Crushmen and Generals. Tonight, it's Kingston Frontenacs at the Civic Auditorium, While Osh- awa Crushmen have plenty of trouble handling both Cobourg Cougars and Peterborough Don Byes, the keenest rival- ry, reaching back to the for- mation of the Crushmen Jun- ior 'B' club, has. been between Kingston and Oshawa. Crush- men are currently tied for second place with Cobourg and they'd like nothing better than to grab a win over King- ston tonight and so move back up alongside the league- leading Liftlock City crew. Crushmen play back in King- ston on Tuesday. TORONTO MARLIES are here tomorrow night and that's always a special occa- sion in the life of an Oshawa hockey fan, Teams come and go but for perennial rivalry, which has existed for years, there's nobody a _ Generals team would rather beat than Toronto's "Dukes". So sound the tocsin -- the Marlboros are invading Oshawa on bath night and it's their first visit of this season's Junior 'A' schedule. Coach Ike Hilde- brand will have his charges up for this one and if they can pull out a win tomorrow night, it will greatly improve their position in the league race. It's a back-to-back week- Associate Sports Editor chestra, who had a two-week stand at Expo '67 and is cur- rently holding forth at "Ports Of Call", has been secured for the Generals' dance. Tick- et sale centres will be set up and table reservations for groups of a stipulated num- ber will be arranged. There'll be the usual hats, favors, noise-makers, lucky spot prizes, etc., but there's also a special prize. Each pur- chaser of a ticket for the Gen- erals' New Year's Eve dance will also receive four hockey tickets for the Junior 'A' league matinee game on New Year's Day, when Marlboros visit Oshawa again. WHITBY RINKS face the acid test in the 2nd annual Dunlop Bonspiel tomorrow. Four rinks from the host club are entered in the big event and all are scheduled for ac- tion in tomorrow's draws, Bill Legros, Bill Peterson and Al Morrison skipping their rinks in the early 8:30 a.m, draw and Bill Gresham's foursome starting at 11:00 o'clock. Bob Lawrie of Unionville, Ken Newartk and Dave Reynolds from Orillia, Karl Asmusson Sr., from Kitchener and "Jake" Fdwards of Kingston are just a few of the top- name curling skips who will tL on hand tomorrow. The "Dunlop" is truly a prestige event, attracting the top rinks of the province. Alfie Phil- lips won it last year an went on to win the Canadian Brier.
