On these occasions gifts. are placed be- fore the altar for distribution at a later date to the needy of the community. New Name Tt was announced this week that the Oshawa Wesleyan Methodist Church has been given a new name. The church, which was founded about a year ago will be known as Hillsdale Wesleyan Methodist Church after the area in which it is located. Good progress is being made on the erection of the new church which will be dedi- cated, Jan. 28, by Rev. C. Esley which will be used to provide monthly support to the Oshawa Men's Hostel and also to pro- vide some help to needy fam- ilies both at. Christmas and throughout the year. Oshawa Presbytery To Study Realignment Of Churches BROOKLIN -- Oshawa Pres- bytery of the United Church of Canada, at its meeting here, set up a special committee to investigate the possible realign- ment of churches where mem- bers have been depleted due to the population movement. Rev. Dr. H. A. Mellow, minister of Northminster Church, Oshawa, will chair the committee. A welcome was extended to Rev. C. G. Higginson, BA, BD, formerly of Richmond Hill, who was recently inducted as min- ister of St. Paul's Church, Ajax. The presbytery adopted a new Professor Harper expressed concern that, in terms of the| churches' renewal, too many people were going off in too many directions. The ones with the least to communicate were doing most of the communicat-| ing. "There was," said Professor Harper, "'too much competition going on between the various churches."
