A Sunday School picnic was held in connection with the Methodist Church, known usually by the name of Mr. Almond’s chapel, the site chosen was in a beautiful grove north of the church, the weather was exceedingly favorable, and it is great satisfaction to all concerned to know that their efforts were crowned with a most signal success. The arrangements made displayed both taste and industry on the part of the managers. Every facility for amusement was provided.
As the ladies themselves had the entire management of the “loaves and fishes,” it could not be said that all was beyond criticism. Tea was served in a splendid style, and though the company was numerous and etc. with considerable diligence, there was not only abundance for all, but bushels of pies and cake were carried home.
After the multitude had partaken of the good things and “were filled” the remaining time was spent in exhilarating sports.
The afternoon’s enjoyment was complete and the company dispersed about sundown, all apparently pleased with the entertainment-com.
