Joe Nieuwendyk was still on a scoring streak for his Cornell University varsity team last week after scoring against both Harvard and Dartmouth in games played the weekend of February 15.
With the conclusion of these games, Nieuwendyk had gone eight straight games scoring goals or assists, and had scored goals in each of the last four. Cornell’s record for goal scoring in consecutive games is eight. The points record is 17 games.
Niewuendyk is now the second leading scorer on the team with 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points. The team leader is 15 and 21 for 36.
The Whitby hockey player is also leading the team in power play games with nine and is fast moving in on the team record of 16 power play goals during regular season play.
