Lori Strong of Whitby is one of eight female gymnasts chosen for the Ontario Gymnastic Federation’s ‘Portraits of Excellence’ poster series.
‘Portraits’ is a commemorative set of 10 full-color posters of female gymnasts who have achieved international celebrity standing.
“Many elite female gymnasts go unnoticed for a number of reasons,” says federation executive director Joe Rabel.
“The primary purpose of this series is to acknowledge those women who have achieved exceptional results while at the same time provide role models for those athletes who aspire to similar levels of excellence.”
All proceeds from sales of the posters will go into the federation’s program endowment fund that will provide financial assistance for future gymnasts.
The 10 posters are 18 inches by 24 inches, and feature the gymnasts in action. Each poster is autographed and includes the career highlights of each gymnast. Strong is described as “Female Artistic Gymnast of the Decade.” Larissa Lowing of Pickering, formerly of Whitby, is recognized for her balance beam performances.
