Letter sent from: Krutohorb, Haisyn raion, Vinnytsia oblast
Letter describes events in 1932-1933 in: Krutohorb, Haisyn raion, Vinnytsia oblast
Current location name: Krutohorb, Haisyn raion, Vinnytsia oblast
Koreniuk was a member of a search brigade but could not stand people crying during the searches and ran away. For this he was stripped of his collective farm and Komsomol memberships, a heavy tax was imposed on his parents' family, and eventually the family was dispossessed for “arrears.”
He describes instances of theft by activists, who would sell the things they had stolen or taken during the requisition to people in the village offices. He also writes about mass death from starvation, and lists a few personal stories he heard from people who were harassed and robbed, naming the victims. Activists were more likely to harass and steal from widows and children.
