Description

Letter sent from: Donetsk oblast
Letter describes events in 1932-1933 in: Villages of Bulatselove and Ostapivka, Blahodatne raion, Odesa oblast
Current location name: Village of Bulatselove and Ostapivka, Arbuzynka (previously Blahodatne) raion, Mykolaiv (previously Odesa) oblast

Author Yevhen Donichenko had sent a letter to Maniak before and is now following up. He apparently records testimonies of people from his native village and nearby villages. He mentions families who died during the Holodomor: the Tsehelnyk family from Bulatselovo and his grandfather; the Shevchenko family from Ostapivka, Arbuzynka raion. He also mentions people who became victims of violence because of the Famine: Ivan Hopanenko killed by Ivan Hladun in Bulatselove; Kostia Nishpurenko, Klym Zarytsky and one more person from Ostapivka were killed/lynched for stealing a cow from Semenivka by a group of Semenivka vigilantes.

He also mentions that the only survivor from the Shevchenko family, Darka, survived because she joined the commune in Bulatselovo where they were fed with a milk soup and onion blossoms.

He mentions a location where more famine victims could have been buried (Stapanivske cemetery in Blahodatne) and believes there should be a call for the village councils to establish the number of victims.
