Hryhorii Shanko sends a number of short poems dedicated to the famine and war, including a poem called “Memory” dedicated to his childhood memories and to the fact that he was born during the famine and survived.


According to the poem, his father was arrested and sent to a labor camp from which he went to fight in WWII as a soldier.
