Author was 14 years old at time of the Famine. She remembers eating faux foods and working in the beet field for a bowl of cereal (kulish). She recalls the confiscation of foodstuffs by search brigades of 20 that also detained people until they confessed where they had hidden the grain. Burial brigades received 2 kg of corn for their efforts from the village council. She supports the memorial book project and says that if it deals with the topics she writes about, she would buy it.- Notes
