Hryhorii Zobenko recounts a memory when children with whom he was playing, Hrysha and Mariiechka, were cannibalized by their mother and elder sister. The children’s father had died by then.
His own grandparents and parents died during the famine, and he was taken into a collective farm orphanage called a patronat after the famine.
He mentions Veremiivka, a village that was moved when the Kremenchuk reservoir was created in 1959. The original village was flooded.
