Hyryk was 9 at the time of the Famine. Theirs was a family of 5. His three cousins and his grandparents died. 31 of the 63 houses in their village were left empty as a result of the Famine. At least 38 people were buried in one mass grave. A case of cannibalism was reported, when a mother killed her 2-year old son. People ate all the horses and cows, then all kinds of weeds, bark and rodents. - Notes
