D.M. Momot writes that he is a Famine survivor, while his grandfather, uncle and aunt died of starvation.
He encloses a newspaper clipping with a memoir authored by I. Protsenko, titled “Paid with their lives” and published in the Dolyna Raion newspaper Shliakh Illicha [The Path of Illich] #137 dated November 15, 1988, pages 4 and 5 of the uploaded scan.
Protsenko was a school principal in Novooleksandrivka. He recalls the local collective farm leaders decided to use some grain to feed starving farm workers and to sell some grain. For that, they were sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, possibly even executed.
