Letter describes events in 1932-1933 in: Skochyshche, Korostyshiv raion, Zhytomyr oblast
Current location name: Skochyshche, Zhytomyr raion, Zhytomyr oblast
Ivan Shcherbatiuk was 7 at the time of the famine. He recalls that in his native Skochyshche, a village of 350-360 households, 412 died during the Famine in 1933, while only 107 died in WWII. He cites a letter by Vasyl Pakharenko in Literaturna Ukraina and asks why central Ukrainian newspapers, except Silski Visti are still silent about the Famine. He supports the memorialization of the victims of the 1933 Famine. - Notes
