Rotary Club to host fashion show to aid local groups TUNDE OTTO HARRIS Willow Park Ecology Centre Getting the urge to go outside without all the gear? Ya, who isn't? At the Spring & Summer 2006 Fashion Show and Dinner Fundraiser, an excellent dining outing will delight us into spring mode with perks such as lots of valuable door prizes, draws and more. The fashions will be awesome and affordable! Although the focus is on the ladies, gentlemen are welcome and will be in attendance. It will beheld on Thursday, March 30. Doors open at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the fashion show at 8 p.m. The venue, Glencairn Golf Club, Regional Rd 25, is out of this world and just 10 minutes from Georgetown, Acton and Milton. Plan an outing with a friend or a few friends, maybe fill a table of 10! Tickets are $55 per person. This three-course meal dinner outing also provides a $50 gift certificate from Studio 49 for each ticket holder for the showcased fashions and a $15 certificate from Esthetically Speaking. If you need new spring/summer clothes why not see what there is, have a fun and entertaining night out and support good programs in the process. Optimists to hold Texas Hold'Em Night Georgetown Optimist Club is holding a Texas Hold'em Poker Night on March 18. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with game starting at 7 p.m. at the Georgetown Optimist Hall on Hwy. 7 west of Georgetown. Cost is $60 and includes a light buffet. Georgetown Seniors Centre goes green Tuesday FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Be sure to be wear'n your green when you come to the St. Patrick's Day luncheon on Tuesday, March 14. I wonder if we will have Irish Stew? Have you ever found yourself in need of baby gift? You should try the craft table at the Centre. It has beautiful baby sweaters, bonnets, booties, blankets and shawls. I bet if you can't find it there I'm sure one of the knitters would knit you up something to your liking. All of the profits go to the Centre. Grant just told me about a trip to The Shaw Festival in Niagara-onthe-Lake on June 6th. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to correct the bad habits we all have developed over time and have a better understanding of road and driving laws and the importance of being s defensive driver. This course is given in two sessions of three hours each. Session 1 will be given on Friday, April 21 and 28. Session 2 will be held Friday. May 5 and 12. There is a cost of $72 per person. You will need to register and pay at the Centre. Let me close with a bit of St. Patrick's Day humour. Both are on the Jaguars swim team and were cited for their accomplishments at GHAC. Silas won gold, breaking the GHAC record with her 100 freestyle, and received gold in the freestyle relay medley as well as bronze in the 50 fly. Cadwallader won gold in the 50 free (another GHAC record) and gold in the 100 IM as well. Acton High School Athletes of the Week are Amanda Schroeder and Melissa Bigg. Schroeder, cocaptain of the Bearcats girls hockey team was selected for her goal and assist in the Halton semi-finals against L.B. Pearson High School. Bigg, captain of the Bearcats girls volleyball team was chosen for her leadership during the teams GHAC finals. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Mark Gorski and Rebekka Bond. Gorski, a member of the Rebels swim team was chosen for his gold in the 200 free, silver in the 4X100 freestyle medley and bronze in the 100 free at GHAC recently. Bond, also of the Rebels swim team, was selected for her gold in the 100 IM, 50 backstroke and the medley relay.
