Trash collection dates altered During the holiday season there will be changes to waste collection services. For the weeks of December 25 and January 1, collection will take place the day after residents' regular collection day. There will be collection services on Boxing Day, December 26. Collection times may vary due to high volumes of waste material and poor weather conditions. Residents are asked to please place their waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. Christmas trees will be collected in the urban areas beginning the week of January 8. For more details on waste collection services in their area, residents may also check the 2006 "Curb Appeal" Waste Management Calendar or visit the Region's Waste Management website at www.halton.ca/waste. The Halton Waste Management Site (HWMS) will maintain its regular operating hours and will be open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1. The HWMS is located at 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton. Driver facing impaired charge A Georgetown man is facing charges after police responded to the Mountainview Rd. and Guelph St. area at approximately 8:20 p.m. last Wednesday. Halton Police were called to the area by an off-duty Peel police officer who had followed a vehicle being driven erratically into a gas station. Charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample is Indor Bhagria, 41, of Grist Mill Dr. ··· Sometime last Thursday a 1997 Plymouth Neon, valued at $3,000, was stolen from the parking lot at a Park Ave. apartment building. ··· A 2002 Mazda Protégé parked in the Achilles Mazda lot in Acton was damaged when a key was used to scratch the driver's side of the vehicle sometime late Saturday or early Sunday. Damage is $600. ··· Police are investigating an attempted break and enter into a 2005 GMC Yukon parked at the rear of Georgetown Market Place sometime Monday afternoon. Police say a hole was made underneath the driver's side door handle in an attempt to gain entry. ··· Sometime between Sunday and Tuesday a $600 Sony navigation system was stolen from a 2006 Ford 150 pickup truck parked at a Gollop Cr., Georgetown home. The driver's side door handle was damaged to gain entry.
