LATIMER, BA, LLB, QC Died peacefully and gently on the evening of Thursday, February 8, 2007. His was a constant and noble spirit. Doug was a retired Justice of the Ontario Court, a title he wore with commitment and respect throughout his years on the bench. Born in Georgetown, Ontario, he attended Osgoode Law School and began his practice as a lawyer in Georgetown. In 1968, he became a Crown Attorney and in 1972, a Justice of the Ontario Court of Justice. He served well and faithfully on the bench for 32 years. As a young man, he joined the RCN(R) HMCS YORK and finished his naval career as a Lieutenant-Commander. He leaves his loving wife, Milree, the "sunshine of his life," his children, son David and his daughter Janice, whom he loved dearly; his son-in-law Steve Kostyshen, of whom he was very proud, his two grandchildren, Alex and Jack, the "lights of his life", his sister Joan Randell (Roger), sister-in-law Ruth, nieces, Gloria and Julie, nephews Scott and Mark, and Judi Egelnick to whom he was ever the senior sibling; sister-in-law Isabelle Tompkins ( Wayne), nieces Heather and Kathryn, and nephew Philip. He was predeceased by his mother Tryphosa, his father Donald, and brothers George and Ron. Doug gladdened the lives and hearts of all who knew him. Family, friends, and neighbours are left with the gift of his humour, his generosity, and his loyalty.
