Blue Fins' intro swimmers fare well at Guelph meet While the competitive Halton Hills Blue Fins swimmers tuned up for the Central Region and Short Course Provincial Championship, the intro group made some waves of their own at the Guelph Novice Meet, hosted by the Guelph Marlins. Swimming against a large field of teams from around the Golden Horseshoe, Blue Fins swimmers posted some impressive results and put the HHBF competitive group on notice that many of them are ready to join their ranks. That win brought them to the finals against Holy Trinity, the number two seed. The opposing side took them by surprise, getting out to a 9-1 lead, while the Rebels struggled and dropped their first league game of the season 25-15. Game two started with 11 straight points for the Rebels, with ace serving from Amanda Cunningham, Rhianna Malcolm, and Sarah Traynor. The passing was much better as defensive specialist Lauren Sokolowski put the ball right to the net. This was followed up by some great setting from Haley Besworth and Cunningham, who found middle hitter Sarah Chapin and power hitter Christie Laidlaw for some kills on the way to a 25-13 victory. With the match all knotted up at one, the momentum continued for the Rebels as they took the championship with a 15-12 win in the deciding game.
