Photo by Danielle McIsaac McIssacs rack up more medals Acton brother and sister boxing duo Heather and Cameron McIsaac took home gold and silver medals recently at the 13th Annual Quebec Cup Olympic Boxing Tournament in Longueuil, Quebec. Heather, 14, faced Maryline Lacroix, 14, of Montreal, in her bid for the gold medal. The bout started with both boxers trading punches evenly, but McIsaac soon took a lead late in the first round. With her accurate punches landing frequently, McIsaac's lead at the end of the second round was an impressive 32-19. Her lead only widened as the bout progressed, causing the Lacroix's corner to throw in the towel in the middle of the third round. McIsaac then followed up that win with a gold medalwinning effort by defeating Christina Tollet of the Regency Boxing Club at the Ray McGibbons Gloves boxing Tournament in St Catharines last weekend. Cameron, 16, easily defeated David Ouellet in the semifinals at the Quebec Cup by a score of 52-28 but lost in the gold medal round against a more experienced Dave Regimbald of Laval, Quebec. With more than 65 fights under his belt, Regimbald was a tough opponent and after four rounds Cameron was edged on points to settle for the silver medal. The McIssacs attend Acton District High School and train out of the Bigtyme Boxing Club in Orangeville and are coached by three-time Canadian middleweight champion Bryon Mackie.
