Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, May 9, 2007 17 ENTERTAINMENT Kyle Sokolowski (left) and Bryan Bartle share the title role of Oliver in the Globe production opening tomorrow night at the John Elliott Theatre. Local boys share Oliver role Ten-year-old Bryan Bartle and 11year-old Kyle Sokolowski are your typical Halton Hills kids. They spend their days going to school, participating in sports and playing with their friends. But Bryan and Kyle have also spent the last few months learning lines, songs and choreography and are now well-prepared to share the title role in Georgetown Globeís production of Oliver!, which opens at the John Elliott Theatre on Thursday, May 10. Both boys have been in several school shows but this is the first major role in a community production for each of them. A Limehouse resident, Bryan saw Oliver! in Stratford with his family last summer and thought about auditioning for Globe's production, along with dad Andy, for the past year. After performing Put On A Happy Face for his audition, he was excited and happy to receive a call offering See GLOBE, pg. 19 By Cory Soal R.H.A.D. . . . Even though you have done your best to look after your natural teeth, there eventually comes a time when you may need them extracted, for various different reasons. If this happens, the tooth or teeth should be replaced, not only to restore your smile, but to regain chewing and prevent other teeth from shifting. There are three main types of artificial teeth and each one is designed for a particular situation. They are dental implants, removable dentures and fixed bridges. A dental implant is made by surgically placing one or more small metal posts beneath the gum into the jawbone and the artificial tooth or teeth attach to them. A fixed bridge is a replacement that is cemented to the adjacent teeth and cannot be removed. A removable denture replaces all of the lost teeth in the arch with one appliance. A partial denture is held in place by clasping some of the remaining teeth, and a full denture is held in place by suction or by sitting on the ridges. If you feel as it you are missing out - on conversations, movies, plays or public meetings - or if your loved ones are getting tires of constantly repeating themselves, it's time to get your hearing tested. And if your vanity has you balking at the idea of wearing a hearing aid, you should know that they're smaller and better than ever, thanks to technological developments such as digitization and background noise filtering. More importantly, while hearings aids are still considered a "device" they have significantly improved the quality of life for many users. Not only do more than 50 per cent of senior citizens need at least one hearing aid, so do many other Canadians. These include younger adults exposed to longterm damaging noise, children who are "higher risk" at birth and people of all ages whose hearing is affected by injury or disease, such as meningitis.
