Acton/Georgetown, Friday, May 11, 2007 3 Men charged in separate rural road crashes A Milton man is facing charges following a collision at 10 Sideroad and Regional Rd. 25 Sunday afternoon. Police report at about 4:45 p.m. the driver of a 2001 Ford Taurus was traveling northbound on Regional Rd. 25 when he lost control and struck a 2000 Mercedes stopped at the intersection on 10 Sideroad, and then fled the scene. No one was injured. Damage to the Mercedes was $17,000. The licence plate of the Taurus fell off at the scene. Police were able to use the plate to identify the owner, who was arrested later that evening. Charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident and careless driving is Robert McGonigle, 25, of Bronte St. ··· An Etobicoke man has been charged after a two-vehicle collision at Hwy. 7 and Fourth Line Monday night. The driver of the other vehicle involved was a 34-year-old Toronto woman. At press time police had no details on injuries. In 2003, the Liberal government had promised to increase funding by $6,000 per resident per year, but since then, only one third of that money, $2,300, has been added. Wards 3 & 4 Regional Councillor Jane Fogal, a former Bennett Health Care Centre board member, said, "I saw through my experiences there that there is a need to increase the funding for the care portion." What is really needed is funding for a better level of care, she said, particularly for food. "My belief is once you get to a long-term facility about one of the only things you have to look forward to is the food, and if there is not enough money for that, then that's a pretty poor quality of life," she said.
