Acton/Georgetown, Friday, May 18, 2007 23 Ayensu honoured Battle of Warriors tournament director Felix Ayensu (right) receives citations from Grand Master Gwaki Ki Ok, a 9th dan (Kukkiwon) visiting from South Korea. Ayensu was recognized by both the World Taekwondo Federation and the World Taekwondo Headquarters for his contributions to the sport at the 14th-annual Battle of Warriors competition held recently at Georgetown's Mold-Masters SportsPlex, which featured 900 competitors from 60 martial arts schools across North America, making it the largest event of its kind in Canada. There were 200 competitors alone representing Ayensu's Olympic Taekwondo/Martial Arts Academy. Pitre is the goalie for the Bearcats girls varsity soccer team, and was chosen for her contribution to the team during their tournament at LB Pearson, helping the team to its consolation championship with a 3-1-1 record. Driese, a sweeper on the Bearcats boys varsity team, was selected for his solid play and good support for the team throughout the season. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week Mitchell Racinsky and Amber Groom. Racinsky, a fly-half on the Rebels rugby team, was recognized for scoring a tri during a game with Nelson. Groom, a Grade 11 pitcher on the senior girls' softball team, threw four solid innings in a tournament game in Brampton earlier this week and has helped the Rebels to a 3-2 record and second place in the Volpe Division. Christ the King Athletes of the Week are Amanda Ferreira and Justin Mota. Ferreira, a forward on the Jaguars senior girls soccer team, was chosen for her three goals in a 10-0 win over Bateman. Mota, a forward on the Jaguars senior boys soccer team, was selected for his goals against Bateman in a 4-1 win.
