Now instead of "The Glen," Intracorp's new development to be built on Prince St., west of Tenth Line will be called "The Meadows in the Glen." And that new name is one the Glen Williams residents, who were upset that the builder had originally chosen the name lovingly embraced by the community to identify their hamlet for more than 100 years, can happily live with. " I think it's marvelous," said Carolyn Van Hinte, of Glen Williams. "What I appreciated from them (Intracorp) is that they tried to be a good neighbour." She said selecting "The Glen" as the name for the subdivision was an "unfortunate move" on Intracorp's part. "But I'm so glad they listened to reason. It was nice of the president not to just turn his back on us. It shows they are being a good neighbour." Glen Williams resident Sue Pember said she was "happy to think our voices were heard and I appreciate they changed the name." Earlier this month, Intracorp President and CEO Bruce Rudichuk told The Independent & Free Press the company wouldn't consider changing the subdivision's name. But Rudichuk said they decided to "amend the name" of their development after reviewing feedback from the community and meeting with concerned residents of Glen Williams, Mayor Rick Bonnette and Councillor Joan Robson twice on the issue.
