Acton/Georgetown, Friday, June 1, 2007 3 Builder called `a class act' for deciding to change name of Glen Williams' development Continued from pg. 1 In a letter sent to Bonnette and Robson, Rudichuk said the use of the name "The Glen for our new community has caused a considerable and significant response from the residents." "A response which, at the outset, we did not fully appreciate," said Rudichuk. During the meetings he said Intracorp had an opportunity to outline how it decided upon the original name and to hear clearly from the residents "in a manner that helped us fully relate to the passion and history of what `The Glen' means to them." So Intracorp suggested a new name they "believe meets and addresses all of the concerns and is supported by all in attendance (at the meetings)," said Rudichuk. Bonnette and Robson are both pleased that Intracorp has decided to change the name. Bonnette had sent a letter to Intracorp requesting the name be changed, and council had endorsed a resolution strongly opposing the name and offering to help the company come up with a new one. "We're quite pleased with the outcome, they listened to us and acted on our concerns," said Bonnette. "I'm pleased it was resolved in very short order." "I am extremely pleased to see the way the democratic process has worked here and am most favourably impressed by the way the people at Intracorp have handled the whole thing," said Robson. "They (Intracorp) are a class act. We, in The Glen, now look forward to welcoming the Heritage Decks Ltd. Janet Bailey, who spearheaded the drive to preserve The Glen name, said, "I think the new name is very honouring of The Glen. They (Intracorp) have changed their outlook to be part of The Glen as opposed to being `The Glen'". Bailey added, "They (Intracorp) had offended a great deal of people and they had to do something to change that." Intracorp is building the subdivision on an 88acre parcel of land previously owned by Sheridan Nurseries. Construction of the homes, ranging in price from approximately $800,000 to $1.2 million, is to begin in fall 2008.
