Sports & Leisure, Friday, June 1, 2007 3 High school roundup Rebel golfers move on to OFSAA Two Georgetown Rebels qualified for the 36-hole OFSAA 2007 Festival early next week in Burlington thanks to their rounds at Monday's Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference championship at the Beverly Golf & Country Club in Copetown. Luke Ovenden tied for first with J.J. Regan of Notre Dame with a one-over-par 71, while GDHS's Adam Salisbury was among three golfers at six-over 76 to earn berths at OFSAA, to be held on Monday and Tuesday at the Hidden Lake Golf Club. Soccer Acton's varsity girls won their playoff semi-final match 2-1 on penalty kicks Wednesday afternoon against Burlington's Lester B. Pearson Team and will play in the Halton AA championship next Thursday in Milton against St. Thomas Aquinas. Sarah Glassford of the Bearcats scored in regulation time on a free kick before Pearson equalized late in the second half. Twenty minutes of extra time resolved nothing, so penalty kicks were used to determine the winner. Glassford and captain Kirsten Lowe converted their spot kicks, substitute goalkeeper Joanie Weaver made a difficult save and then Julia Soderholm finished the game off for the home side with the deciding goal. In other action, Christ the King's senior girls were edged 1-0 on home turf against Oakville-Trafalgar on Wednesday to end their season just short of making the Halton AAAA final.
