Acton/Georgetown, Friday, June 8, 2007 23 Library to host forum on branch expansion On Wednesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at the Gellert Community Centre, the Halton Hills Public Library will be hosting a public forum on the proposed renovation and expansion of the Georgetown branch. If you have been following the news and wondering what the new Georgetown branch might look like, this is your chance to catch a peek of the conceptual drawings. The architects, John Knox and Stephen Blood of Chamberlain Architect Services Ltd. will also be presenting an outline of the project schedule and there will be time for questions and comments from the audience. Light refreshments will be served. The evening will be presented by John Morgenstern of dmA Planning and Management Services. Mr. Morgenstern is the author of the library's Facility/Site Study, one of the first steps taken to prepare for the renovation project. This study is available for you to read on the website, http://www.library.hhpl.on.ca/FacilityStudy.asp. So much is happening as we prepare for our new branch that our director, Jane Diamanti has started a blog at www.hhplblog.blogspot.com (or follow the link on our website). Here she has answered ques- Clare Hanman tions such as "What features will be added?" and "How can the public participate in the renovation process?" For extra reading she has also included a link to a very interesting article called How to Make Your Library Great: 14 Lessons from Local Libraries All Over the Continent. This article shows some fascinating examples of how libraries have become vibrant features of their local communities. So please, do check out all the news on our web site and do come to the public forum. There will be lots of exciting news. But more importantly, your ideas and opinions are important to the success of the renovation. Halton Hills Public Library is your public library after all.
