Acton/Georgetown, Friday, July 6, 2007 9 Students raised funds for rare disease Over the past year, students and members of the student parliament at Silver Creek School have been doing some fundraising, to donate to the Maximilian Cachia Fund, a fund named after one of their students, Max Cachia. Max suffers from Roifman Syndrome, a rare genetic disease. The Tribute Fund at Sick Kids Foundation is directed toward the Immunology and Allergy Department at the Hospital for Sick Children. Hearing scheduled for January 2008 for landowners within proposed hydro corridor Continued from pg. 5 Schneider said the first major step is to prepare terms of reference for the EA and Hydro One hopes to have that submitted this summer and approved this fall. He said a hearing on the OEB application is slated for mid-January 2008 where members of the public who have intervener status will be able to have their say. Hydro One has also applied for early access onto the lands required for the line and a hearing is to be held later this month on the issue, said Schneider. He said they hope to have that approval by the end of the summer. Schneider said Hydro One is currently in the process of contacting affected landowners and at recent information centres landowners had an opportunity to see how the line could impact their property. Schneider said there are about 30 instances along the proposed line where homes or major farm buildings fall within the 175 to 200 ft. strip of land required for the new line. He estimates approximately six landowners in Halton Hills are in that situation. A full buyout of their properties or moving the buildings are options available to those landowners said Schneider.
