Acton/Georgetown, Friday, July 6, 2007 19 ENTERTAINMENT Eden Mills Writers Festival to offer reel writing seminar Ready to unlock that great script from the canister-confines of your mind? The Saturday Seminar at this year's Eden Mills Writers' Festival features Reel Writing: Screenwriting in the Real World, where four popular panelists will reveal their secrets for television and film writing: Tassie Cameron has penned movies and television shows such as The Robber Bride, Would be Kings, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and The Eleventh Hour. Andrew Clark is known for his work on The Next Big Thing (documentary), Stand and Deliver, and A Keen Soldier: the Execution of Second World War Private Joseph Pringle. Drew Hayden Taylor's credits include North of 60, Street Legal, Prairie Berry Pie, The Strange Case of Bunny Weequod, Redskins, Tricksters and Puppy Stew. Esta Spalding has written for The Republic of Love, Falling Angels, Da Vinci's Inquest, The Eleventh Hour, In God's Country, and Would be Kings. As a participant, you'll gather at 1 p.m. in a covered outdoor setting where you will listen to the panelists speak about the life of a screenwriter, the film and television industries, and some of the things you really should know before you write that spellbinding script, edit it, and try to place your work with a director, agent, or producer. There will be opportunities for question-and-answer periods and for small-group discussions led by each of the panelists. Light snacks will be served at intermission, and there will be a wine-and-cheese reception afterward, at which panelists may sign books, if they've also been known to publish on paper. The Reel Writing seminar takes place September 8, 1-6 p.m., at Camp Edgewood, Eden Mills. Bring blanket if it's cold, and a seat pillow if you aren't sure ordinary wooden card chairs are enough to bolster your restless imagination. Tickets are $30 and are available at the event or at The Bookshelf in Guelph. For reservations or answers to your questions please call Wendy Smith at 519-856-1089 or e-mail leydensmith@hotmail.com.
