Mail in registrations will not be accepted at this point, but you can go on line at www.georgetown2007.ca until midnight on Wednesday, July 25 and register with a credit card. You can still register on the day of the events, but only if there are openings left. The cost to register is $15 and this includes attending the wine and cheese "Meet and Greet" on Friday July 27. The BBQ is sold out, but we still have tickets for the Homecoming Dance on the Sat. night, which features six live bands from Georgetown's past. Tickets are $20 for registrants purchasing dance tickets in advance. You can also purchase dance tickets at the door for $40 cash if there are any left, but you may be taking a chance. There are less than 200 tickets left, so we recommend that you register on line now to be sure that you can attend. Come if you love Georgetown! You don't have to be a life long resident or a GDHS graduate to attend. The only prerequisite is that you think Georgetown is a great place to live or a great place to have grown up in. This is a celebration of our town in general and everyone is welcome. All proceeds from the Homecoming Weekend will be donated to the new addition to the library in Downtown Georgetown. GDHS 120th Reunion: There is no admission charge to come and tour GDHS. There are no limits to attendance, so if you missed out on some Homecoming events, you can enjoy this part of Homecoming. For many, this will be a highlight of the weekend. Just come anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday July 28 and join in the fun! Take a tour of Downtown Georgetown with local historian Mark Rowe. This free celebrating 44 years proud to call Georgetown home tour leaves at 9am on Saturday morning from Knox Church (next to the library). How did this get started? Now that we can see a successful event in sight, we have to say "What a great idea!" to Don Fendley and Colin Ming. Seven years ago, they started up their own website called Georgetown On Line (just search under gtol). Today, their site is a Don Fendley huge success. They get millions of hits from all around the world. In one month (March 2007), they registered 132,000 hits alone! Don and Colin began to get a lot of comments from people that it was time to host a Homecoming and they agreed. The Homecoming Committee was formed and here we are 2 years later. If you run into Don or Colin at Homecoming, don't forget to say thanks for all they do to keep Georgetowners in touch with our town each and every day. It is fun to go through the GTOL site and read the comments. Beth (Gage) Woolnough, who now lives in New South Wales, Australia says, "Great to get a feel of home from the other side of the world". There are old yearbooks on line, and Steve Crevier from Vernon, B.C. said " Great website. I was even funnier-looking than I thought". Chris Vagg entered a humourous comment: "I can't believe I bought a house in Acton. Hopefully Georgetown will still take me back." Rhonda (Jones) Coles writes from Calgary, Alberta: "It's been 30 years since I lived in Georgetown. It is nice to feel like I have roots again." Walter (Skip) Sargent, from Ottawa says: "Any Georgetown survivors from the 40's still out there? Or did the town really just start in the 60's?" Why take part in Homecoming? When asked why they wanted to help make this happen, other members of the Homecoming Committee have said, "To take a nostalgic journey to my past and all the crazy times."
