Team members-- Steve Adams, Daryl Maybanks and Mike Adams-- garnered a first place for the ribs category, pork shoulder category and chicken (in which they tied and were bumped to second) and a fourth place for their brisket. The total points were the highest the team has ever achieved-- 1893 points out of a possible 2000. A total of 30 teams from across Canada and international teams from United States, Switzerland, England and Belgium took part in the event. Team Cedar Grilling also won the Home Grown Award and will represent Canada again at the 2007 Jack Daniel's World Championship in Lynchburg, Tennessee this October. The team has also just received an official invitation to compete at the Best of The Best Invitational BBQ Cook-Off in Douglas, Georgia in November, the first time a Canadian team has been invited to this prestigious event. In exchange, about 470 kilograms of food and $950 was collected. In the 10 years of the event, more than 22,600 tires have been diverted from the landfill and more than five tonnes of food and $3,485 in cash has been donated to Halton food banks.
