FESTIVAL ON MAIN Renamed festival will be part of Homecoming 2007 Beginning on Friday, Downtown Georgetown is presenting a two-day celebration Festival on Main-- Homecoming 2007. The annual June "Village Festival" has been renamed "Festival on Main" and the date has been changed to accommodate the Main St. reconstruction that has occurred since February. Over two days many of Georgetown's own homegrown entertainers, such as Rolly Rocker and the HemiHeads and The Bluesers will perform. There will also be stage entertainment by George Grossman's Bohemian Swing, Don Ablett's Riverbend and Dixieland Band Sandy's Stompers! Georgetown's Globe Theatre Productions will perform selections from their recent musical, Oliver!, and its upcoming musical, Singing in the Rain. The Georgetown Choral Society and local dance studios, such as Halton Hills School of Dance, will also take the stage. For the children there is The Ben Show, Arms Length Puppet shows and street performers, a Jungle Run bouncy obstacle course and a train to take passengers on a journey. Many of these events are new for 2007. One of the few surprises you will find along the way is Tribal Thunder, a percussion group with exciting sound and colour. For the artist, join in with the fun with sidewalk art or have your face painted. There will be lots to see and do! On Saturday (and every Saturday from June 16 to October 6) the Farmers' Market will be open on Main Street, not to mention lots of entertainment and fun too.
