("Hydro One") has initiated an Undertaking under Ontario's Environmental Assessment Act ("The Act") to build an approximately 180 kilometre double-circuit 500,000 volt (500 kV) transmission line on a widened existing transmission corridor connecting the Bruce Power Facility ("Bruce") to Hydro One's switching station in Milton ("Milton"). As part of the planning process for the Bruce to Milton Transmission Reinforcement Project, an Environmental Assessment ("EA") proposed Terms of Reference was submitted to the Ministry of the Environment for review as required under The Act. The proposed Terms of Reference is being made available for public, First Nations and Métis, stakeholder and agency review and comment starting August 3, 2007. If approved, the EA Terms of Reference will serve as a framework for the preparation and review of the environmental assessment for the proposed Undertaking. The purpose of the Undertaking is to increase the capacity of the Bruce to Milton transmission corridor to transmit electrical power from committed and future sources in the Bruce area to the provincial grid by December 1, 2011, or as soon as this can be achieved. This will increase supply adequacy and transmission security for the people of Ontario. The EA proposed Terms of Reference is available on the project web site at: www.HydroOneNetworks.com/BrucetoMilton; and by calling the toll-free Project Hotline at 1-877-345-6799 for a copy of the document on CD.
