8 Acton/Georgetown, Friday, August 10, 2007 "Parker's Party" Benefit Party for Police blotter Lauri Tothe-Parker Saturday August 18th, Acton Legion Games ~ Food ~ Prizes ~ DJ Memorial garden vandalized Halton Police are asking for assistance from the public in finding the culprit(s) responsible for ripping out several plants and stealing a dedication plaque at the Max MacSween Memorial Gardens in Acton early Tuesday. Police report the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. in the gardens located in Rotary Park. The missing dedication plaque inscribed with "This garden is dedicated in memory of Max MacSween. An inspiration to us all. Acton Horticultural Society-- 2007" was attached to a large rock in the garden. Police searched the park but did not find the plaque. The damage and value of the stolen plaque is estimated at $700. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-878-5511 ext. 2105, or if they see someone with the plaque to call 911. The truck was parked beside a maintenance barn. The $6,000 truck was later recovered by Ontario Provincial Police on a property in Dufferin County. At press time no charges had been laid in connection with the theft. ··· Approximately $700 damage was caused to a fence at the front of a Mill St. Georgetown home late Monday or early Tuesday. It had been pushed over and large tire tracks were found on the lawn by the fence. ··· A 14-foot aluminum boat, valued at about $2,000, was taken from the rear of a Regional Rd. 25 Acton property sometime Monday or Tuesday.
