4 Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, September 12, 2007 Police blotter Etobicoke man charged in home invasion An Etobicoke man surrendered to Halton Regional Police in Georgetown on Friday in connection with a break-in and assault that occurred in July. A warrant had been issued for 52-year-old William Roy McDonald after a male and female were assaulted at a Stewart McLaren Rd. on July 21 just before 10 p.m. Entry to the residence was made by breaking through its front door. Charges include break and enter, forcible entry, impersonating a police officer and breach of probation. ··· Police remind shoppers to be mindful of thieves after a woman had her wallet stolen at the Winners' outlet in the Georgetown Market Place Friday at about 4:30 p.m. Approximately $200 and some identification was taken. "This sort of crime has become a lot more prevalent and we've had several instances where people have had their purse or wallet stolen while leaving their shopping carts unattended," said Detective Sergeant Murray Drinkwalter. ··· Two men walked into the Salvation Army Thrift Store in downtown Georgetown on Friday morning and quickly left with a Yamaha acoustic guitar without paying for it, police report. One male is described as being scruffy in appearance, in his mid-40s, 5-foot-8 and wearing blue jeans and a black jacket. The other is in his mid-30s, 5-foot-10, with dark, curly, wavy hair while carrying a black backpack. The guitar was valued at about $100. ··· An unplated two-door black 1998 Honda Accord worth about $4,500 went missing from a Miller Dr. residence some time between midnight and 8 a.m. Sunday. ··· Police arrested a Georgetown South man and charged him with impaired driving early Saturday morning. A vehicle was observed by and officer driving erratically on Miller Dr. at 12:17 a.m. Charged is Jeffrey David Caldwell, 42, of Argyll Rd. ··· A black BMX bicycle was apparently swiped from a garage at an Academy Rd. residence in Georgetown sometime between Aug. 29 and Sept. 1. Police believe entry into the garage was made through an unlocked door.
