Jonathan was supposed to arrive Dec. 31, but perhaps knowing that holding out for just one more day could mean even bigger fanfare, the third child of Rachael and David Adlam decided to wait until Tuesday to make his appearance. Although his due date was so close, Rachael said she never really thought her son would end up being the New Years baby, but by Monday night she was pretty certain he was going to arrive Jan. 1. Before I went to bed on New Years Eve I had a feeling I was going to have him the next day, said Rachael. She said she had pains all that night and headed to Georgetown Hospital just before 5 p.m. After a difficult and normal labour Rachael said Jonathan was born at 10:15 p.m. weighing in at 9 lbs. 7 oz. The Brampton couple, who live only five minutes from the new Brampton Civic Hospital, opted to have their baby in Georgetown. Its a lot more personal attention. Its more one-on-one, said Rachael, who wanted Georgetown obstetrician Dr. Selvara Gunaratnam, who also delivered the couples first son, to bring Jonathan into the world. The couple was expected to take Jonathan, whom David referred to as an added bonus because he wasnt planned, home yesterday (Thursday). Rachael said their eldest son Zachary (7) is pretty excited about Jonathans arrival because hes been looking forward to having a brother, but theyre not sure if daughter Mackenzie, 2, is going to be quite as thrilled with the new addition. She was hoping for a sister, Rachael said. REFINANCING? PURCHASING? BOB WOODS Mortgage Specialist (905) 877-1490 *Rate subject to change 360 Guelph St., Georgetown 5.95%.
