Police say at about 11 a.m. a male and female who live in the home were threatened by two men brandishing knives. The men left the home and no one was injured. Later that day, at about 12:30 p.m., police were called to the Barber Dr. and Smith St. area because two men were fighting in the street. After investigation, police determined the men had been involved in the earlier incident at the Smith St. home. Charged with cause a disturbance, three counts of assault with a weapon, mischief to property and breach of probation is John Schira, 24, of Dominion Gardens Dr. Also charged with utter threats, three counts of assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, and cause a disturbance is Adam Scott, 24, of Linden Circle. Both men were held for bail hearings. Cash, jewelry and a watch were stolen from a Hall Rd. condominium Saturday while the home- owners were out between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Police report the residents went out but left the condo unlocked for their neighbour who was temporarily keeping her dog there while she washed her floors. When she later went over to the neighbours condo she encountered a man coming out of the master bedroom who told her he was a family friend, then left. She too left, and locked the door. When the homeowners returned she told them about the incident. They checked their belongings and dis- covered several items were missing and contacted police. The man is described as white, about 59, 180 lbs, with blonde hair and a heavy build. Two people are facing charges after an attempt was made to purchase three Sony PlayStations using stolen credit cards at Rogers Video on Mountainview Rd. N. Monday afternoon. Police say at about 2:30 p.m. a young man and woman attempted to purchase the items but when the clerk said further identification was needed they ran out of the store with the PlayStations. A plainclothes police officer in the area spotted the pair attempting to leave and stopped them. Charged with using a falsified credit card and possession of a falsified credit card is Kelly Pataria, 19, of Goldhill Rd., Brampton. Also charged with property obtained by crime is Janeevan Mylvaganam, 19, of Muskox Dr., Scarborough. Police report a Canon EOS camera, lens and camera bag were stolen from an SUV while a Chester St., Georgetown family was unloading items from the vehicle Monday morning in their driveway. At about 9:30 a.m. the family left the rear hatch of the SUV open while carrying items into the house and when they came back out shortly afterward the items valued at $2,000 were gone. Police say a young child in the family said she saw a young white male with dark hair and a dark coat running beside their home. A Tecumseh snow blower valued at $500 was stolen from a backyard shed at a residence on Byron St., Georgetown sometime between Dec. 18 and Tuesday (Jan. 1). The lock had been bro- ken off to gain entry. A purse containing a cell phone and credit cards was stolen from a Toyota Echo parked at Mold-Masters SportsPlex on Guelph St. Saturday evening.
