Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, January 23, 2008 15 Members of the Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre boys team competed at their first meet of the season at the Tumblers Gymnastics Centre in Orleans near Ottawa. Three HHGC gymnasts competed for the Ontario Winter Games team selection. Corey Gillies, Zachary Brautigan and Riley Dodds, who are competing at a higher level than last year, (Provincial Level 3) was up against athletes performing Level 5 routines. Dodds qualified for the team by placing 26th all- around. Brautigan and Gillies finished 37th and 38th, respectively, all-around, securing first and second alter- nate spots for the team list. Gabriel Reitz of HHGC did not compete due to an injury. Two of the HHGCs national gymnasts also competed for a chance to represent Team Ontario for an interna- tional competition in the U.S. Marc DeLestard placed 12th all-around and fourth on the pommel horse. Alex Bowmer placed 22nd all-around in his first competition of national calibre. The top seven all-around athletes made the National Tour Team. From a total of 54 boys who competed under Level 1 last year, only 12 gymnasts moved up to Level 2 this year, and four of them were from the HHGC.
