The company will vigorously defend itself, said Wiekenkamp. In a press release issued early last month by the com- pany it was stated it had taken a wide range of specific actions to understand and address potential root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a time- ly manner. At this time, the company reported that it is making good progress and is satisfied that the actions undertaken will result in an improved processes and address the root causes that led to this write-down. In a more recent release SunOpta reported it is contin- uing to make progress with its 2007 year end analysis and related investigative procedures throughout the com- panys berry operations and that the investigation being conducted by the companys audit committee, with assis- tance from independent counsel and accountants, was progressing.
