A Halton Police spokesperson said Wednesday both men were sentenced one in Oakville court in February, the other in Milton in March after pleading guilty to the charges. The robbery occurred July 9 at the Macs store on Delrex Blvd. and Hwy. 7. Police responded to an alarm at the store, and when they arrived a man, dressed like a Macs employee, sent officers on a wild-goose chase telling them someone had attempted to rob the store and in what direction the suspect fled. The man who was posing as an employee was later arrested by police, along with another man found hiding in the false ceiling area in a back storeroom. Two employees of the store who had been forced into the freezer area of the store were released unharmed. The police spokesperson said Roger Moore, 20, was sentenced to four years in jail and received a 10-year weapons prohibition on the charge of robbery with a firearm. Moore received a one-year consecutive jail sentence on the charge of possession of a prohibited weapon and a one-year concurrent sentence on the charge of hostage-taking using a firearm. The other accused in the incident, Rayon Powell, 21, was sentenced to four years in jail and a 10-year weapons prohibition on the charge of robbery with a firearm, four years concurrent for the charge of adult hostage-tak- ing using a firearm and a one-year consecutive sentence on the possession of a prohibited or restrictive firearm. A Toronto woman was charged with the theft of four bras valued at $138 from La Senza in Georgetown Market Place Tuesday afternoon. Police say a store employee saw a woman leave the store with the bras under her jacket. Police were called, given a description of the suspect, and arrested a woman seen walking along Mountainview Rd. at about 2:55 p.m. The woman misidentified herself to police. Charged with theft under $5,000 and obstruct police officer is Nicole Williams, 30, of Finch Ave. A Georgetown man was charged with impaired care and control and refusing to pro- vide a breath sample after police were called to Ruddell Cr. at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday for a possible impaired driver. Charged is Kevin Rankin, 49, of Ruddell Cr. Halton Hills firefighters were called to an Early St. Georgetown home at about 4:15 p.m. Friday for a possible house fire. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the eaves of the house and determined the fire was burning inside the walls of the home. After removing several sections of walls and ceilings, crews were able to locate and extin- guish the fire. A fire department spokesperson says the cause of the fire that resulted in about $75,000 damage was heat from a drill that ignited con- struction material in the wall. The homeowner had been using the drill to put a hole in the basement wall for a new bathroom vent. The fire quickly spread from the basement to the second floor of the home.
