Photo by Ted Brown GLT opens spring comedy next week Georgetown Little Theatre presents Love, Sex and the IRS by Wm. Van Zandt and Jane Milmore. GLTs third and final presentation of the season opens next Thursday at the John Elliott Theatre. Love, Sex and the IRS is a hilarious comedy, involving a couple of young unemployed musicians, who try to fool the taxman to save money. This involves the cooperation of the fiancof one, and the unwitting involvement of a few others who get roped in accidentally. Fast-paced and very funny, this play will leave the audience holding their sides with laughter. Director Andrew Humeniuk is a newcomer to GLT. He is assisted by his wife Jennifer, whom audiences will remember as Gus, in the GLT produc- tion of Cookin With Gus (November 2003). The cast consists of some old and some new faces, with Sheri Buker, Marcel Jordan, Patti Caruso and Gary McGillravey returning to the GLT stage, and welcoming Tyler Bignall and Cat Skirrow from the GLT Youth Company. In addition to the husband and wife directing team, there is also a mother and son acting team with Ro Palumbo- Coates on stage with son Brendan. Love, Sex and the IRS runs April 17- 19, and 23-26, at the John Elliott Theatre, Church St., Georgetown. Box Office: 905-877-3700. The Source of the Song 11 acoustic songwriters concert will take place at the Glen Williams Town Hall, tomorrow (April 12), 2-5 p.m., hosted by local song- writer Bruce Madole. It features original songs performed by three special guest songwriters: J.K. Gulley, Kenny Mun- shaw, and Colin Amey. Gulley is a producer (five times nomi- nated Producer of the Year), session gui- tarist, and songwriter (a SOCAN Song of the Year award winner). Munshaw is a performing artist, keyboards wizard and producer, who is finishing a new CD at Levon Helms recording studio. Amey, an independent artist, is now lead vocalist and front man for a newly-formed rock band called Suckerfactory. Every year, theres an event in Nashville where all the hit songwriters perform their songs in clubs around town. Even if you dont recognize the names or the faces, as an average listener, you sit there and encounter song after song that other artists may have made famous, says Madole. The uncanny part is that its often a different and far more powerful experience hearing the songs performed by the original writer. Thats a part of the magic that we wanted to recreate in our own series, knowing how many great songwriters there are in Canada. Tickets are $12/in advance and $15/door. They are available in Glen Williams at the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre (Studio 7) or Bests Harbour. Source of the Song returns with three new songwriters
