Photo by Eamonn Maher Bulldogs tuning up for opener The Halton Hills Bulldogs contin- ued their pre-season preparations for the Ontario Lacrosse Association Jr. B campaign by posting a 2-1 record at the Spartan exhibition tournament in St. Catharines on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated the Niagara Thunderhawks 9-5, lost to host Spartan 9-5 and beat Welland 9-3. In game one, Luke Vanderwilp, Pat Saunders and Chris Haynes net- ted two goals each, with Kody Lyons, Riley McGilloway and Russell Peacock adding single mark- ers. Against Spartan, the Bulldogs were outscored 4-0 in the final peri- od after Haynes and Justin Reid both had put together three-point efforts. Midget goaltender Ryan Kelly was sharp in the victory over Welland, backed by Matt Laidlaws hat trick. Lyons (2), Kyle Davis (2), Mike Brown and Haynes rounded out the scoring. Halton Hills has one tune-up contest left as it plays at Orangeville tonight (Wednesday) starting at 8 p.m. The regular season opens April 26 at Akwesasne. Junior Jags tops in Ontario Christ the Kings Jaguars completed another sensational season on the ice as they captured the All-Ontario Junior Classic high school hockey championship for the second year in a row last week at York University. Ryan Kelly posted the shutout in CtKs 4-0 triumph over Loyola of Mississauga in the final and the team finished the year with a 19-2-1 overall record after a 22-0-0 mark in the 2007 campaign. Blueliner Stephen Silas was named MVP for the 24-team All-Ontario tournament, while the Jags also received stellar offensive output from J.P. Villeneuve, Mike Sgarbossa and Robbie Murden.
